We coloured these bamboo styled dinning chairs in bold monochrome colours of red, black & white. Instead of recovering the seats by simply covering the fabric across the drop- in-seat base we are going  to do something different and manipulate the fabric first.

First we asked Daniel to prepare the drop-in-seats bases using an elastic webbing, foam, dacron & a plain cover of calico.

In the meantime whilst the seat bases are being prepped up, we start with choosing our fabric and begin the process of manipulating the fabric to cover the chairs.

Fabric for Red Bamboo Chair: Colefax & Fowler

For the Red Bamboo Chair we used a silk Colefax & Fowler vintage floral print. We wanted the fabric to almost pop out from the chair and create texture so we decided to create some sumptuous ruffling.

Below is the fabrics we have choosen for the Black Bamboo Chair, a black printed Toile linen fabric and a plain glazed linen. We created box pleats   with the glazed linen and placed it between panels of the printed Toile linen.

Finally for the White Bamboo Chair we are going to create a patchwork and pleated top cover using a printed fabric & plain white linen.
